About Moonglow:
It’s a charming story, really. It all begins with a fisherman and jewelry designer named Luc. At first or even second glance, it’s not apparent that Luc’s a mathematical genius. No one would ever guess that he won the Guinness Book of World Records for day dates in May of 1997, or that he followed up that win by writing a book for his fans in 2001 explaining the technique he used so that they, too could use his formula.When Luc wasn’t busy setting world records he spent large portions of his days sitting on boulders in the middle of the forest crafting fishing hooks from chrome. One day he looked at the pile of excess chrome, as it sat glistening in the sun, and he had an epiphany. “I shall make jewelry from the scraps,” he yelled, and his voice echoed across the canyons. Luc ran to his cabin and handcrafted his very first necklace and the rest is history.
Being that he has always been fascinated with celestial objects - specifically, the moon - Luc wanted to incorporate it into the jewelry. So, he studied the moon in depth. He even authored a moon phase book including 19 years of moon phases - the moon cycle repeats itself every 19 years. During the process Luc learned that he was born during a full moon. (The werewolves and vampires we’ve interviewed think this may have something to do with his mounting preoccupation with necks, and necklaces!)....Just kidding.
In 2002, Luc successfully combined his love for jewelry and his expertise about the moon, and its phases, and called his new enterprise ~ Moonglow Jewelry. Later that year, Luc made a presentation at his work place in the small agricultural town of Saint- Hyacinthe Quebec featuring his new jewelry collection, and the attendees loved it. He began selling his jewelry by renting a table at a non-profit organization and Luc quickly was starting to get attention from the press making television appearances, radio interviews, magazine appearances across Quebec and eastern Canada.
Today we proudly have many partners accross 16 states and 3 provinces in North America carrying the Moonglow Jewelry line. You can find Moonglow in jewelry stores, gift shops, airports stores, vintage stores, clothing boutiques, specialty retailers, hospital gitft shops. We have two offices located in Montreal, Quebec and Miami, Florida. I absolutely love Moonglow Necklaces. You get to pick a date that you want and the piece of jewelry you want your moon on and they will send you a hi-res image of the moon on that specific night! It also absorbs light and gently glows at night time. I think it's a fabulous idea and it's a beautiful piece of jewelry that has a significant meaning to each individual person!
The necklace I received is set to my father's birthdate. I gave it as a gift to my mother since he passed away in 2001. She was thrilled and has not taken it off yet! You can choose any date you like though, a birthday, anniversary, first kiss, graduation day etc. There's no limit. They have beautiful selections of jewelry to choose from too!
Each box comes with two cards. One which is the certificate of authenticity and the other tells you which date your moon represents and which phase the moon was in on that exact night.
The necklaces are very affordable and are a great way to record that special date! Maybe give one to a new mother making her childs birth?
