Be Safe and Stylish in the Sun with these great products!

28 July

IT'S SUMMER! Kids are out of school so time for family vacations, camping trips, and lazy days around the pool. But, being a mother, I know how important it is to exercise safety in the sun but without sacrificing fashion! The following tips will help you and your family be safe/stylish will enjoying the wonderful summer:

Sunscreen:
1st and foremost, never leave home without sunscreen. Did you know that each time you get a sunburn, you increase your risk of skin cancer? This is especially true for our kids! The best form of protection is a sunscreen with a SPF of 45 as it blocks out about 98% of the damaging rays. Just keep in mind that sunscreen usually loses it's potency after about 90 minutes so to stay protected, reapply!

Skincare is a number one importance not just to reduce the risk of skin cancer, but to help keep the hands of time from creeping up and aging you. There are many products on the market today to help with the signs of aging and HSN carries some of the best skincare products on the market today.

Protective Clothing:
Did you know that the sun’s rays are strongest in the mid-morning to early evening – typically 10 AM to 4 PM. This means that you need to wear protection or lounge in the shade. While wearing a hat is not always an option especially for the kids while they are in the pool, there are clothing lines that have UPF built into them to help protect from the sun.

Sunglasses:
Sunglasses are like sunscreen for the eyes! Research has shown exposure to small amounts of UV radiation over a period of many years increases the chance of developing cataracts and may cause damage to retinas. To better protect your eyes, check the rating of the UV on sunglasses before you purchase. For kids, the lens should be dark enough so you do not see their pupils.
