The Levana Oma+ is a cordless, battery-powered movement monitor that clips to the diaper and can be used almost everywhere you and baby go. Oma+ clips directly onto the diaper and senses baby’s tiniest movements at the belly button area. The sensor will gently vibrate to help encourage the return of regular movement after 15 seconds of complete stillness and will beep loudly to alert you if no movement is detected for more than 20 seconds.
You hold down hold the left purple button to turn on the unit and hold down the 2 purple buttons on the sides to turn it off. The purple tip that sits on the belly is soft and very flexible so that it won’t hurt or irritate your little one and the monitor is very light weight. It’s portable for when you’re on the go and even come with a protective case and your little one can wear their regular clothes over it without it disturbing the monitor.
The Levana Oma+ is designed to give parents a little peace of mind even though the adult may be in the same room or trying to get some shut eye in their own bed. Remember that the Oma+ vibrates on the baby’s belly to stimulate them to move after 15 seconds and wails like a banshee after 20 seconds to get someone’s attention. Yes, you have to move the baby around to turn off the alarm, but isn’t that the whole purpose? Does it replace sound and visual infant monitoring? No, it should be used to augment them.
