Blue Apron is a new concept in grocery delivery, built around incredible cooking experiences. We offer a once-a-week subscription service where we deliver all the fresh ingredients you need to make 3 meals, in exactly the right proportions. We’ve designed our service to teach you fun new recipes, save prep time and also reduce unnecessary waste. By letting us shop for you, we can bring you fresher and higher-quality food than you can get on your own in the supermarket, and for better prices!
Here’s how our subscription service works:
- Select the type of plan you want and the number of people
- Delivery is free, and we deliver the same day each week
- There’s no commitment: you can cancel anytime before the weekly cutoff
- Stick with us long enough and you’ll get additional free goodies in the mail!
I had the opportunity to try out Blue Apron to see what this meal box was all about. These aren't packaged, frozen, or shelf-stable meals. With Blue Apron, all of the ingredients for three quality meals, as well as the recipes, are delivered to your door fresh. They arrive in a ice packed, well insulated box to assure they items are fresh.
Upon opening the box, you find all the ingredients and vegetables on top with you meat being between ice packs in the bottom of the box. Also, they are vacuumed packed so they are assured to be fresh.
Oh, and let's not forget that they will send you a email telling you what your menu will be for the box:
1. 5-Spice Pork Buns with Red Cabbage, Carrot & Thai Basil Salad
2. Chicken and Mixed Mushroom Forager with Toasted Parmesan-Garlic Bread
3. Cod over Linguini with Fresh Peas, Meyer Lemon & Spring Herbs
We chose to fix the 5-Spice Pork Buns as the first meal:
You can see that all the ingredients are fresh. I was going to take a picture of the 5-spice Pork Buns when they were done but between my husband and kids, they were gone in a flash. The whole family loved the meal and it was different. I love how we can get restaurant quality meals at home without the fuss of traveling. Also, it gives the family a taste of meals that we would not normally eat.
There is a vegetarian menu, and a meat & fish menu, and each menu includes three complete meals. You can sign up to receive a box every week, but you can cancel any week you don’t want, based on the menu or your schedule that week or whatever. You choose how many people you want to feed, in increments of 2, from 2 – 6 people. Boxes are priced at $9.99 per meal per person (so, $59.94 for three meals that feed two people) (free shipping).
