Recently, I was on the search for a new razor for my husband. I know I could go buy the standard ones that are sold as most stores, but I hate the blades. I have very curious and mischievous children who might accidently get ahold of them. ER bound I would be! So, when I ran across ShaveTech and their USB razors, I knew I had to check them out.


It’s about the size of a smartphone and is recharged with a built-in fold-in fob that plugs into the USB port of a laptop or tablet. This is perfect  if you travel because its USB charger means that no overseas outlet adapters are necessary. I even found that I could charge the shaver in my car as it has a USB port. So, if my husband needed a touch up and forgot, then he can get it before he gets out of the car!

Battery life is rated at approximately 30 minutes. Make sure you plug it back in after about two shaves or 25 minutes (manual says to not charge it each night and to let it run out of steam first) because it does shut down mid-shave without warning, leaving you with one partially shaved leg which won’t be in style any time soon! Also, another great thing is that it's approved for carry-on luggage and had a replaceable head for heavy users. I actually really liked it. While it didn’t get AS close of a shave as a brand new razor, it did work really well.




The ShaveTech does have a 300 charge expected battery lifetime; which should last the average American male just over 2 years. This may not seem like a lot, but the device is intended for travel use, and is priced very reasonably. The unit is also covered by a 1 year warranty for wear and tear damage due to regular use or faulty parts; simply keep the proof of purchase with the box. Operation is surprisingly simple, with an on/off switch, and easy snap off foil head. The head beneath is easily maintained and cleaned with the included brush, and ShaveTech can be protected when stored in the included velvet pouch.
