Shaune Bazner Mei Fa Hairstyx

03 December

Shaune Bazner is one of America’s leading fashion jewelry artists and innovators. She has been creating timeless jewelry and accessory designs that appeal to all styles, from the Los Angeles trendy to the DC conservative and the New York City chic.

Shaune created the original hairsticks by combining her worldly collection of beads with the idea of using chopsticks to secure her hair while teaching dance classes. She experimented with various shapes and sizes of sticks and finally developed the patented curve that is used today, branding them mei fa hairstyx®. "mei fa" is the Chinese phrase for "beautiful hair" or "beautiful method."

Shaune formally launched her business in 1978 in her father’s basement, eventually expanding her business to jewelry and other accessories. She has breathed new life into ordinary categories, like eyeglass cords and ID neckwear, merging fashion with function. Today, her company, Shaune Bazner Accessories, offers one of the largest selections of fashion jewelry and accessories that are still handcrafted in America.

Known throughout the fashion world for her extraordinary sense of color, texture, composition, and uncompromising quality, Shaune personally designs two prominent collections each year.

Recently, I had the chance to check out some of their hairstyx. These are one of the ways for me to keep my hair up as I so bad want to cut it off. But, my family wants it long. I hate those regular clips that keep my hair up. They are not designer looking or attractive to me on a night out.

These are the Empress Hair Sticks. Mei Fa (pronounced "May Fah") Hairstyx hold all lengths and textures of hair without the use of rubber bands or pins. If you can make a ponytail, you can enjoy our hair sticks. Just one pair will keep your hair design in place, comfortably and securely without headaches or damage to your hair. The turned hardwood, from sustainable forests in Maine, are topped with beads from all over the globe. Check out our videos for lots of ideas on how to wear your hair. *Always remember to let the hair stick slide across your scalp while holding the wood part of the hair stick, like a dart. Avoid touching the bead work.

I have used these hairstyx for several days now. I love the way they hold my hair in place and are comfortable. I can do my hair partially up or down and the sticks hold it in place.  They have a video showing you how to use the hairstyx:
